Staying Committed to Your Goals: A Fresh Start For the New Year (Free E-Book Within)

January 12, 2025

For many, January begins with high hopes and a long list of resolutions. It’s a time when we feel energized by the possibility of a clean slate, ready to make big changes in our lives. But statistically, this second week of January is also when the enthusiasm starts to wane. Life gets busy, old habits creep back in, and those New Year’s resolutions can start to feel less like exciting opportunities and more like distant goals.

If that’s where you find yourself right now, take heart—you’re not alone. And more importantly, it’s not too late to reset, refocus, and recommit.

If Resolutions Are Starting to Slip...

Take a deep breath. For real. Let’s start by letting go of any guilt or pressure you might be feeling. Whether you’ve been crushing your goals or they’ve taken a backseat to everything else, it’s okay. Real change doesn’t come from getting it “right” every single day—it comes from showing up for yourself, again and again, no matter how many times you have to hit reset.

If you made a resolution, I want to remind you that it’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence. And if you didn’t make one? That’s okay too. Every single day is an opportunity to decide what you want your life to look like and take small steps to get there.

Let’s Keep It Simple

Big goals can feel overwhelming, so what if we simplify things? Instead of focusing on huge, all-or-nothing changes, what if your goal was simply to make today a little better than yesterday?

Here are a few ways to stay connected to what matters to you:

  • Celebrate the small stuff – Progress is progress, no matter how small. Did you drink more water today? Take a walk? Speak kindly to yourself? That’s worth celebrating.
  • Adjust as you go – It’s okay to change your plans if something isn’t working. Goals are meant to serve you, not the other way around.
  • Focus on building habits – Instead of focusing solely on outcomes, look at the habits that will get you there. Consistency matters more than perfection.
  • Be kind to yourself – Seriously, give yourself some grace. Growth isn’t linear, and you’re doing the best you can.

You’re Not Late

Remember, you don’t need a new year, a Monday, or a special occasion to start fresh. The best time to make a change is always right now. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried before; what matters is that you keep showing up for yourself.

Let’s make the most of this year, one small step at a time ❤️
