I’m Sonia Hopkins, the owner and therapist here, and I’m so honored to be a part of your path to wellness. As a bi-racial (Asian + White), first-generation college graduate, I’ve had my own share of hurdles to overcome, from childhood trauma and generational challenges to dealing with anxiety, depression, and chronic health issues. These experiences have shaped me into the therapist I am today. I understand the weight of feeling stuck or overwhelmed, and I also know the freedom that comes from understanding yourself on a deeper level.
One that integrates mind, body, and spirit. That’s why, in addition to my training as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I’m also a 200-hour Integrative Vinyasa Yoga Teacher. My background blends traditional therapeutic practices with the power of mindfulness, ancestral healing, and somatic awareness, creating a truly integrative approach to therapy.
After earning my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Memphis, I’ve worked across diverse clinical settings—from residential programs and outpatient clinics to hospitals and community agencies. I’ve specialized in trauma, anxiety, addiction, relational issues, and attachment concerns, helping individuals and families transform their challenges into opportunities for growth.
What makes my approach unique is my ability to blend a variety of therapeutic modalities—such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR-coming late winter 2025!)—all tailored to your individual needs. I’ve also studied additional techniques like the Flash Technique, Psychedelics Fundamentals, EFT , and more, so I can offer a range of tools to guide you toward healing.
But more than anything, my therapy style is built on compassion and collaboration. I know it takes immense courage to reach out for support, and I honor that bravery in each of my clients. We’ll work together to understand the root causes of your concerns, and I’ll walk beside you as we create a path toward a more fulfilling life. Humor, emotional expression, and boundary-setting are all part of the process, and I’ll be with you every step of the way—celebrating your progress, supporting you through the setbacks, and encouraging you to push yourself when it’s time to grow.
In our work together, I emphasize that healing is an ongoing practice. Therapy isn’t just about what happens in our sessions, but about how you apply new insights and skills to your everyday life. Change takes time, but it’s within reach—and I’m here to help you make it happen.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me cooking (I’m particularly passionate about baking sourdough), traveling, gardening, stargazing, or indulging in a bit of reality TV. Creativity and exploration are essential to my own self-care, and I encourage you to tap into those elements of your life as well. I’ve always been drawn to the healing power of nature and various spiritual practices, and I believe the mind-body-spirit connection is key to overcoming any challenge.
